Once Carl Johan Lundgren got Vit Päls back up to speed with the 2023 album Back in päls, there was no slowing down. Since then, he has been on a constant tour, releasing songs and EPs, and earlier this year published his acclaimed debut novel Mitt eget bull Hawaii, which he also took on the road. Now it’s time for a new album. On November 6, he releases Riddare och trumpeter — an album deeply shaped by the loss of a close friend to cancer. On March 20, Hey Elbow released their fourth album FLOCK, a 40-minute immersive work released digitally and on blue transparent vinyl. Today, April 24 – the same day they perform the work live at Intonal in Malmö – they release – In Parts – another way of exploring its ambient, droning, improvisational, jazzy, electronic, and choral vocal textures. Following the release of their fourth album FLOCK on March 20, Malmö-formed trio Hey Elbow unveil ‘PART 04 (Jocke’s Edit)’ as a standalone single, arriving April 8.

Originally part of the album’s continuous 40-minute, fluid and largely improvised composition, ‘PART 04’ has been extracted and reimagined into a concise, hymn-like piece of dream pop. Vocalist Julia Ringdahl leads the track through an ethereal sonic landscape, joined by guest vocalists Freja Drakenberg and Sandra Karlsson on choir arrangements. With two albums released in less than two years, Agitator are as relentless in their output as they are on stage. All the more surprising, then, that their album “Året av sex” is the darkest and slowest work they’ve made—drawing inspiration from chanting witch doctors as well as electronic avant-garde music.
